Grow
We have been growing flowers for nearly a decade, and love sharing all we have learned with our participants. All of the workshops begin with discussing which flower varieties work best for drying, and we offer insight into the entire growing process from seed to harvest.
-
Harvest
Cutting stems at the correct time is a big factor in the quality of dried flowers. We will talk about the best environment for drying flowers, and different methods that work well for various blooms.
-
Design
Together we will make natural, everlasting creations for your spaces. Designing with flowers is uplifting, relaxing and fun. Whether you have experience working with flowers, or if it is your first time, you will leave with something beautiful that you feel proud of.
Group Classes
Join me for a day all about flowers! Each workshop begins with discussions about growing flowers, how to properly preserve them, and the methods of creation that I have developed over my years as a floral designer. Every participant will receive a pack of carefully selected flowers grown and dried at Fogwood, the tools necessary to create the chosen concept, and a recommended flower recipe to ensure that anyone can create something beautiful. Some of my favorite concepts to teach are wreathing, blooming books and floral clouds.
The workshops are usually two to three hours long and pricing varies based on the concept we are making and the amount of time and stems that goes into it. We provide snacks, refreshments, and beautiful environments to engage with community.
Our workshops usually take place in our 24 ft yurt overlooking the gardens, or other locations in the midcoast. If you would like to collaborate and offer a workshop in your space, or at a retreat, please feel free to get in touch! We love branching out.
Testimonials
“Fogwood Gardens wreath workshops are, no exaggerations, the events I compulsively look for all year. Maria is capable of taking you through the process with clarity and playfulness, inviting you to unleash your creativity in accessinle, joyful ways. Did I think I could make a wreath? Absolutely not. Yet, Maria was able to guide me to a place where I surprised myself and I delighted in the whole experience.”
